Yamaha Super Axe - SA-90, 1974, Tobacco Sunburst With the initial success of the Yamaha SG Range, Yamaha issued a number of Semi Acoustic guitars also known as Super Axes or short SA. Initially modelled to the successful Gibson ES-335, the Yamaha SA line was initially produced since 1967 and with limited success. The SA-90 was the top of the range model at the time and led to further issue of the SA700, S1000, SA1200 and later in 1977 the top of the range SA2000 and SA22000. It is a true vintage guitar as can be seen from the faded gold hardware, stop-tail, tulip style tuning pegs and switches; powerful sound generated through two covered Twin Hum-buckers. The headstock is plain and simple with triple binding surrounding the wood, there is no decorative floral motif inlay as common with the SG series just the Yamaha Logo. Location Berwick upon Tweed.
