Generally we still see quite a few Yamaha SG-1000 guitars kicking about, but good condition vintage 1970’s examples are like hen’s teeth. The Yamaha SG-1000 was called the Les Paul Killer in its hey day and for good reason, great looks and killer sound, helped by the “Coil Tap” option, making single coil sound out of double humbuckers, with in-phase and out phase option to boot. The SG-1000 is the more rocky little brother of the acclaimed Yamaha SG-2000 that was developed in the early 1970s. This guitar is a top quality axe and handles and balances well; it has been set up with low action and plays light and fluid. The guitar is a solid instrument and quality build with a set neck and ebony fret-board with mother of pearl, split wing position markers.
